Coleambally Irrigation Co-operative Limited (CICL) is a world-class irrigation company operating a modern and highly automated irrigation delivery service across an area of 400,000ha. CICL seeks a Channel Technician to join our Water Operations team.
Reporting to the Channel Technician Supervisor, the Channel Technician will provide technical support to operate and maintain the Total Channel Control infrastructure. Key responsibilities include:
Observing and reporting on channel flow conditions, aquatic weed growth, access conditions and leaks through banks and around structures
Undertaking inspections on channel control and metering equipment, performing accuracy checks, preventative maintenance and corrective actions as required
Monitoring system alarms and channel supply level trends to identify outages and breakdowns
Diagnosing faults and carrying out appropriate repairs for channel control and metering equipment, including with the use of software tools
Determining electrical and mechanical equipment required for ongoing repairs and future installations and maintaining an adequate inventory of parts
Working co-operatively with all staff, members/customers and contractors to achieve the objectives of the business
The successful applicant will have a strong interest in the agricultural industry, be self-motivated and have a strong practical approach to solving operational, maintenance and technical problems. Other essential attributes include:
Ability to swim and be physically able to undertake fieldwork
Hold a current class C manual driver's licence
Ability to work independently with a high level of autonomy and accuracy
Have good time management and organisational skills
Willingness to learn new skills and undertake training as required
Effective communication skills Basic computer skills in Microsoft word, excel and outlook
Availability to work weekends and outside normal office hours when required
Being an Australian citizen or having an Australian permanent residence status
